What this trial studies
This study evaluates the use of virtual reality (VR) as a method to manage stress in patients undergoing knee surgery. It aims to assess the feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness of VR interventions in improving the overall quality of life and recovery experience for these patients. By utilizing VR technology, the study seeks to provide a novel approach to symptom management during the surgical process. Participants will be monitored for their responses to the VR intervention and its impact on their stress levels and recovery outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who are undergoing knee surgery for the first time.
Not a fit: Patients with conditions that impair communication, chronic pain issues, or those with physical limitations that prevent VR headset use may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance the recovery experience and quality of life for knee surgery patients by effectively managing their stress.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of virtual reality for stress management is gaining traction, this specific application in knee surgery patients is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
