What this trial studies

This study investigates the effectiveness of virtual reality glasses as a distraction method for children aged 7-12 undergoing suturing in an emergency room setting. A total of 84 children will be randomly assigned to either a group using virtual reality glasses while receiving sutures or a control group. Pain and fear levels will be assessed using established scales before, during, and after the procedure. The study aims to determine if the use of virtual reality can significantly reduce pain and fear compared to standard care.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 7-12 who require suturing in the emergency room and can communicate in Turkish.

Not a fit: Patients outside the age range of 7-12 years or those with mental and developmental disabilities may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly alleviate pain and fear in children during invasive medical procedures.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that distraction techniques, including virtual reality, can effectively reduce pain and anxiety in pediatric patients during medical procedures.
