What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the effectiveness of virtual reality and music therapy as non-pharmacological interventions to manage pain during outpatient hysteroscopy procedures. The study aims to improve patient comfort and reduce the need for anesthesia by integrating these therapies into the procedural setting. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the interventions or standard care, and their pain levels will be assessed throughout the procedure. The goal is to enhance the overall healthcare experience and minimize procedural risks associated with pain management.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals scheduled for outpatient hysteroscopy at Prince of Wales Hospital who can provide informed consent.
Not a fit: Patients with hearing or visual deficits, or those who cannot understand written Chinese, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve pain management for patients undergoing outpatient hysteroscopy, leading to better procedural outcomes and reduced healthcare costs.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of virtual reality and music therapy in pain management is gaining attention, this specific application in outpatient hysteroscopy is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
