What this trial studies

This study investigates the effectiveness of virtual appointments in enhancing compliance with the use of Twin Block appliances among young patients. Participants will be divided into two groups: one receiving standard instructions and the other receiving additional virtual appointments that include focused discussions and visual aids. Compliance will be objectively measured using a temperature-sensitive microsensor embedded in the appliance, and occlusal changes will be assessed at regular follow-up visits. The goal is to determine if virtual support can significantly improve the wear time of the Twin Block appliance.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are males aged 11-14 and females aged 10-13 who require Twin Block treatment for Class II malocclusion.

Not a fit: Patients currently undergoing treatment with fixed appliances alongside Twin Block treatment may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to improved compliance with Twin Block wear, resulting in better treatment outcomes for patients.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have explored various interventions to improve compliance with removable appliances, indicating potential for success with this novel approach.
