What this trial studies

This study evaluates the feasibility of using video interpreting technology to assist prehospital emergency physicians in communicating with patients who have language barriers. It will involve 50 responsive adult patients who will receive care while utilizing a tablet for video interpreting. The study aims to assess the quality of communication, usability of the technology, and any changes in diagnosis and treatment outcomes. Data will be collected and analyzed to determine the effectiveness of this approach in emergency situations.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are awake, responsive adult patients aged 18 and older who face language barriers in emergency situations.

Not a fit: Patients who are unconscious, experiencing out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, or refuse the use of video interpreting will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this could significantly enhance communication between emergency medical personnel and patients with language barriers, leading to better diagnosis and treatment.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of technology for communication in medical settings is gaining traction, this specific approach to prehospital emergency medicine is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
