Using ultrasound to treat recurrent thyroid cancer
Ultrasound-guided Thermal Ablation for Recurrent Thyroid Cancer: A Multicenter Study

What this trial studies
This study evaluates the long-term outcomes of ultrasound-guided thermal ablation in patients with recurrent thyroid cancer. It is a multicenter observational study that aims to predict the effectiveness and safety of this treatment approach. Patients who have previously undergone thyroidectomy and have confirmed recurrent lesions will be monitored over a follow-up period of at least 12 months to assess their outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients who have had a thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer and have pathologically confirmed recurrent lesions without distant metastases.
Not a fit: Patients with coagulation disorders or serious organ failures, as well as those with vocal cord dysfunction on the opposite side, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could provide a less invasive option for managing recurrent thyroid cancer, potentially improving patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with ultrasound-guided thermal ablation for similar conditions, indicating potential for success in this approach.
