What this trial studies

This observational study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of pulmonary ultrasound score and vena cava collapse index measurements in patients undergoing hip surgery under spinal anesthesia. Participants will be randomized into two groups: one receiving goal-directed fluid therapy based on ultrasound measurements, and the other receiving conventional fluid management. The study will assess the impact of these fluid management strategies on postoperative outcomes, including complications and recovery times.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients over the age of 65 who are scheduled for hip surgery and classified as ASA I-III.

Not a fit: Patients under the age of 65, those with ASA IV-V classifications, or those with a BMI above 35 may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved fluid management strategies that reduce postoperative complications for hip fracture surgery patients.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with similar ultrasound-guided fluid management approaches, indicating potential for positive outcomes.
