Using ultrasound to improve physiotherapy for ankle injuries
Diagnostic Ultrasonography in Physiotherapy as a Prevention of the Development of Complications of Post-Traumatic Ankle Conditions
This study is testing if using ultrasound to guide physiotherapy can help people with ankle injuries recover better than standard physiotherapy alone.

What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the effectiveness of targeted physiotherapy for post-traumatic ankle conditions by utilizing diagnostic ultrasonography. Patients with ankle injuries will be randomly assigned to two groups: one receiving standard physiotherapy and the other receiving physiotherapy modified based on ultrasound findings. Both groups will undergo ten outpatient sessions over two months, with assessments conducted at the start and after eight weeks. The goal is to determine if ultrasound-guided treatment leads to better outcomes in recovery and management of ankle injuries.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 15 to 65 with post-traumatic ankle conditions occurring within 6 weeks of injury.
Not a fit: Patients with serious underlying diseases, previous ankle surgeries, or those outside the age range may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance recovery outcomes for patients with ankle injuries by providing more tailored physiotherapy interventions.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have suggested that modifying physiotherapy based on diagnostic ultrasonography can improve treatment effectiveness, indicating potential success for this approach.
