What this trial studies
This observational study explores the use of ultrasound as a tool to predict difficult videolaryngoscopy in patients undergoing scheduled surgeries requiring orotracheal intubation. It aims to enhance airway management by identifying anatomical predictors of difficulty through ultrasound measurements, which are safe, fast, and provide real-time imaging. The study focuses on patients with ASA I-III classifications and excludes those with certain anatomical abnormalities or conditions that may complicate intubation. The findings could lead to improved patient safety and outcomes during anesthesia.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 to 90 with ASA I-III classifications scheduled for surgeries requiring orotracheal intubation.
Not a fit: Patients with obesity class II, cervical tumors, or significant anatomical abnormalities may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance the safety and effectiveness of airway management in patients undergoing surgery.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise in using ultrasound for airway management, indicating a growing interest and potential for success in this area.
