What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of a telerehabilitation program aimed at preventing falls among elderly individuals. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a telerehabilitation group, which engages in guided exercise sessions via video calls with a physical therapist, or a control group that receives standard fall prevention education. Both groups will follow a structured exercise regimen and will be assessed on their balance and mobility at multiple intervals over a year. The study aims to determine if telerehabilitation can improve balance and reduce fall incidents compared to traditional methods.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are elderly individuals aged 60 and older who can walk independently and have a history of falls.
Not a fit: Patients with unstable medical conditions affecting their mobility or cognitive impairments that limit their ability to learn exercises may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce fall rates and improve balance in elderly patients, enhancing their quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with telerehabilitation approaches for various conditions, indicating potential success for this method in fall prevention.
