What this trial studies
This pilot interventional trial aims to explore the feasibility and effectiveness of reciting Tang poems to promote happiness among ethnic minority primary school children in Hong Kong. The study involves fun activities centered around Tang poetry recitation, targeting children aged 6-9 who are in Grades 1-2. Participants will engage in three recitation sessions and a performance session, with the hypothesis that increased recitation correlates with higher levels of happiness and enjoyment. The study seeks to assess the impact of these activities on both the children and their families in a community setting.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are ethnic minority children aged 6-9 in primary school who can communicate in simple Cantonese or English.
Not a fit: Children who are already proficient in reciting Tang poems or those unable to communicate due to physical or mental limitations may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance the emotional well-being and happiness of ethnic minority children and their families.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is novel, similar studies have shown that engaging in culturally relevant activities can positively impact emotional well-being.
