What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of adding spices and herbs to vegetable dishes served to military personnel at Naval Station Activity Bethesda. It will involve a two-phase intervention, starting with stakeholder engagement to identify barriers to vegetable consumption and preferences among military service members. The intervention will compare vegetable intake between dishes prepared with spices and herbs versus plain vegetables. The goal is to enhance dietary habits and improve overall nutrition among military personnel.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are junior service members in the U.S. military who can read and write in English.
Not a fit: Patients who are under 18 years of age or not part of the U.S. military will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to increased vegetable consumption among military personnel, promoting better health and nutrition.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies on dietary interventions have shown promise, this specific approach using spices and herbs in a military setting is relatively novel.
