Using SmartPose games to help stroke patients recover upper limb function

The Effect of Rehabilitative Games with SmartPose Practice on Upper Extremity Recovery in Ischemic Stroke Patients

NA · Istanbul University - Cerrahpasa · NCT06778525

What this trial studies

This clinical trial investigates the effectiveness of SmartPose rehabilitative games in enhancing upper extremity motor, functional, and sensory recovery in stroke patients. Participants will be divided into two groups: one receiving SmartPose games alongside traditional neuromuscular therapy, and the other receiving only conventional exercises. The trial aims to determine if the addition of SmartPose games leads to better recovery outcomes compared to standard rehabilitation methods. The intervention will last for 8 weeks, with sessions held three times a week.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are stroke patients aged 35 to 75 who are at least six weeks post-stroke and can perform certain upper limb movements.

Not a fit: Patients with severe secondary impairments affecting upper extremity movement or significant visual impairments may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve upper limb recovery in stroke patients, enhancing their quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of technology in rehabilitation is growing, the specific application of SmartPose games in stroke recovery is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
