What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of short video training in reducing fear and anxiety levels in children aged 9-12 who are about to undergo an endoscopy procedure. The randomized controlled experimental design will involve measuring physiological parameters and assessing fear, anxiety, and satisfaction levels before and after the procedure. Parents will be informed about the process, and both the child and parent will participate in evaluating the child's emotional state. The goal is to create a supportive environment that minimizes stress and enhances the overall experience for the child.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 9-12 who are undergoing their first endoscopy procedure and do not have any communication issues.
Not a fit: Patients with visual, hearing, or intellectual disabilities, or those who have previously undergone an endoscopy, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce fear and anxiety in children undergoing medical procedures, leading to improved satisfaction and potentially better health outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown that pre-procedure education and preparation can effectively reduce anxiety in pediatric patients, suggesting that this approach may also be beneficial.
