Using Shock Wave Therapy with Kinesio Taping for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Relief
Adding Shock Wave Therapy to Kinesio Taping Improves Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in Physical Therapist Females. A Randomized Controlled Trial.
NA · Cairo University · NCT06214286
This study is testing if using shock wave therapy along with kinesio taping can help female physical therapists with carpal tunnel syndrome feel better compared to just regular physiotherapy.

What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of combining shock wave therapy with kinesio taping to alleviate symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome specifically in female physical therapists. Shock wave therapy is a non-invasive treatment known for its ability to relieve pain and promote healing in musculoskeletal disorders. The study aims to determine if this combination approach yields better outcomes than conventional physiotherapy alone for patients diagnosed with mild to moderate carpal tunnel syndrome. Participants will undergo assessments based on clinical parameters and nerve conduction studies to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are female physical therapists aged 20 to 40 diagnosed with mild to moderate carpal tunnel syndrome.
Not a fit: Patients with systemic diseases, severe carpal tunnel syndrome, or those who have undergone previous surgeries for the condition may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide enhanced relief from carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms for affected patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with shock wave therapy for musculoskeletal conditions, suggesting potential success for this novel combination approach.
