What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the effects of different shock wave techniques on recovery following arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. Conducted at Peking University Third Hospital, the study will enroll approximately 2600 patients who have undergone surgery for rotator cuff tears. Participants will be assessed for shoulder function, quality of life, pain levels, and MRI results at baseline and throughout their recovery. The goal is to evaluate how shock wave therapy can enhance rehabilitation outcomes and improve overall patient prognosis.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals diagnosed with a rotator cuff tear who are scheduled for surgical repair and can participate in rehabilitation.
Not a fit: Patients under 17 or over 75 years old, those with previous shoulder surgeries, or those with irreparable rotator cuff damage may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve recovery times and outcomes for patients undergoing rotator cuff surgery.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been some studies on shock wave therapy in postoperative patients, the specific application in rotator cuff repair is still under investigation and not widely tested.
