What this trial studies
This study investigates the effectiveness of sensory integration therapy combined with traditional speech therapy for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It focuses on addressing sensory processing dysfunctions that are prevalent in children with ASD, which can impact their communication and social skills. The study aims to evaluate whether incorporating sensory integration techniques can enhance the outcomes of speech therapy for these children. Participants will include children aged 3 to 10 years who have been diagnosed with moderate to severe autism.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 3 to 10 years who have a diagnosis of moderate to severe autism spectrum disorder.
Not a fit: Children with autism who have comorbid conditions, such as hearing impairments or syndromes, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve communication skills and social interactions in children with autism.
How similar studies have performed: While there is existing research on sensory integration therapy, this specific combination with speech therapy is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
