What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of sensory electrical stimulation on resting tremors in patients diagnosed with idiopathic Parkinson's disease. It aims to establish a continuous treatment protocol specifically targeting static tremors, which are often challenging to manage with traditional therapies. The study will include patients aged 45 to 60 with mild to moderate symptoms, and will compare the outcomes of sensory stimulation against traditional exercises. This approach is novel as it focuses on a new modality of treatment for a common and debilitating symptom of Parkinson's disease.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 45 to 60 diagnosed with idiopathic Parkinson's disease who exhibit mild to moderate static tremors.
Not a fit: Patients with other neurological disorders, severe visual impairments, or those unable to follow instructions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a new therapeutic option for managing resting tremors in Parkinson's patients, potentially improving their quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is novel, similar studies exploring sensory stimulation techniques have shown promise in other contexts, suggesting potential for success.
Eligibility criteria

Inclusion Criteria: * Age between 45 and 60 * Diagnosed with idiopathic Parkinson's disease with Magnetic resonance imaging of the brain * All the patients will have mild to moderate symptoms based on (the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale UPDRS) ≥ 3 * Static tremors have been present at the hand and wrist * Absence of other disorders that cause similar symptoms like dystonia Exclusion Criteria: * History of hand trauma causes stiffness * Presence of other neurological problems interferes with diagnosis as hemiplegic stroke * Secondary parkinsonism (drug-induced or vascular ) which has very low tremor magnitude which can not be detected The patient has a severe visual problem that does not allow following the instructions. * The patient educational level does not allow for following the instructions.
