What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of self-induced cognitive trance as a complementary approach for managing chronic pain. Participants will attend two workshops designed to teach them how to enter a non-ordinary state of consciousness, with assessments of pain, fatigue, anxiety, depression, and quality of life conducted before and after the workshops. Follow-up evaluations will occur at 6 and 12 months post-workshop to measure long-term outcomes. The study aims to provide insights into the phenomenology of self-induced cognitive trance and its impact on chronic pain management.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are French-speaking individuals experiencing chronic pain who have been on stable pharmacological treatment for at least four months.
Not a fit: Patients with psychiatric disorders, drug addiction, or alcoholism may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the quality of life for patients suffering from chronic pain.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using self-induced cognitive trance is relatively novel, similar complementary therapies have shown promise in managing chronic pain in other studies.
