What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of Pyridoxine as an add-on therapy to standard treatment for patients with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). It is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 76 participants diagnosed with OCD. Patients will be divided into two groups: one receiving Pyridoxine and the other receiving a placebo, both alongside standard treatment for 8 weeks. The aim is to determine if Pyridoxine can enhance treatment outcomes for OCD patients who may not fully respond to existing therapies.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with OCD who meet the DSM-5 criteria.
Not a fit: Patients with other psychological disorders or those who have recently taken Pyridoxine may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a new adjunctive treatment option for patients with OCD, potentially improving their overall treatment response.
How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing research into the role of antioxidants in OCD treatment, this specific approach using Pyridoxine is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
