What this trial studies
This clinical trial involves 34 patients aged 50 to 70 with Charcot foot ulcers, who will be randomly assigned to either a treatment group receiving pulsed electromagnetic field therapy and electrical stimulation three times a week for three months, or a control group receiving standard wound care and electrical stimulation. The goal is to assess the effectiveness of the pulsed electromagnetic field therapy in promoting healing of the ulcers. The study aims to provide insights into alternative treatment options for this condition.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are male and female patients aged 50 to 70 with diagnosed Charcot foot ulcers.
Not a fit: Patients with malignancies, hypotension, pregnancy, or immunological and rheumatological disorders may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could significantly improve healing outcomes for patients with Charcot foot ulcers.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of pulsed electromagnetic field therapy is gaining interest, this specific approach for Charcot foot ulcers is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
