What this trial studies

This clinical trial investigates the effects of ozone therapy on postoperative pain relief in patients undergoing the extraction of lower third molars. It employs a split-mouth design where one side receives standard care while the other side is treated with ozone in both gaseous and gel forms. The primary goal is to assess pain levels seven days post-surgery, alongside secondary objectives that include evaluating mouth opening limitations, analgesic intake, and quality of life. The study aims to provide insights into the efficacy of ozone therapy in enhancing recovery after dental surgery.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals scheduled for lower third molar extraction without systemic diseases.

Not a fit: Patients with conditions such as hyperthyroidism, anemia, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce postoperative pain and improve recovery for patients undergoing wisdom tooth extractions.

How similar studies have performed: While ozone therapy has been explored in various contexts, this specific application in dental surgery is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
