What this trial studies
This study investigates the effectiveness of a nettle and cranberry complex capsule in preventing recurrent urinary tract infections (rUTI) in participants aged 30 to 75 with a confirmed diagnosis of UTI. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the active capsules or a placebo, taking two capsules twice daily for eight weeks. Assessments will be conducted at baseline, 4 weeks, and 8 weeks to evaluate various urinary symptoms and overall bladder health. The study aims to determine if this natural supplement can reduce the frequency of rUTI episodes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are women aged 30 to 75 who have experienced at least two UTIs in the past six months or three in the past year.
Not a fit: Patients with diabetes, pregnancy, or certain urogenital conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a natural preventive option for patients suffering from recurrent urinary tract infections.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of cranberry for UTI prevention has been studied, the specific combination with nettle in this context is novel and has not been extensively tested.
