What this trial studies

This study evaluates the effectiveness of transcutaneous tibial nerve stimulation (TTNS) and parasacral nerve stimulation (PNS) in alleviating overactive bladder symptoms in female patients with multiple sclerosis. Participants will be divided into three groups: those receiving TTNS, those receiving PNS, and a placebo group, all of whom will also undergo behavioral treatment. The study will assess various urinary parameters and quality of life before and after the treatment period, which lasts six weeks with stimulation sessions twice a week. The goal is to compare the outcomes between the treatment groups and the placebo group.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are female patients over 18 years old with multiple sclerosis and overactive bladder symptoms.

Not a fit: Patients with urinary tract infections, diabetes, or other specified exclusions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly improve bladder control and quality of life for women suffering from overactive bladder due to multiple sclerosis.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise in using nerve stimulation techniques for bladder control, suggesting potential success for this approach.
