What this trial studies
This trial aims to develop a self-guided music listening tool for patients undergoing allogeneic stem cell transplantation who are hospitalized for extended periods. Participants will engage in 1-hour daily music listening sessions delivered through a web-based platform or smartphone app during their inpatient stay. The study will assess the feasibility and acceptability of this intervention, as well as its impact on patients' quality of life, distress, and mindfulness compared to a usual care control group. Qualitative data will also be collected to understand patient perceptions of the music listening experience.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who are scheduled for an allogeneic stem cell transplant and will be hospitalized for approximately 3-4 weeks.
Not a fit: Patients with significant cognitive, psychiatric, or medical conditions that impair their ability to participate in the intervention may not benefit.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could enhance the quality of life and emotional well-being of patients undergoing stem cell transplants.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of music interventions in healthcare is established, this specific approach for stem cell transplant patients is novel and has not been extensively tested.
