What this trial studies
This study investigates the impact of music therapy on the severity of dyspnea and vital signs in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in intensive care. Patients will be randomly assigned to either an experimental group receiving music therapy or a control group without it. The therapy will involve listening to music in the Hüseyni maqam for one day, with assessments of dyspnea severity and vital signs taken before, immediately after, and 30 minutes post-therapy. The goal is to evaluate how music therapy can improve the quality of life for these patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with a diagnosis of COPD who are currently experiencing dyspnea and are being treated in intensive care.
Not a fit: Patients who are under 18 years old, have hearing impairments, or are not in intensive care will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a non-invasive and cost-effective method to alleviate breathing difficulties in COPD patients.
How similar studies have performed: While there are limited studies on music therapy for dyspnea in intensive care, existing literature suggests potential benefits, making this approach both novel and promising.
