What this trial studies
This study investigates the impact of intraoperative music on the inflammatory response during donor hepatectomy. It aims to determine whether music, as a non-pharmacological intervention, can alleviate pain, anxiety, and stress associated with surgical procedures. By comparing outcomes between patients who listen to music and those who do not, the study seeks to provide insights into the effectiveness of music in enhancing surgical experiences and recovery. The research is conducted at Istinye University Hospital in Istanbul.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients scheduled for donor hepatectomy who are classified as American Society of Anesthesiologists class 1 to 2.
Not a fit: Patients with a higher ASA classification or those on immunosuppressant or cytotoxic therapy may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to improved recovery outcomes and reduced inflammatory responses for patients undergoing liver donation.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that music can effectively reduce anxiety and pain in surgical settings, suggesting potential success for this approach.
