What this trial studies
Adults receiving long-term care at a community mental health center will attend six weekly 90-minute group viewings of selected Netflix or Disney series or movies. One group will watch with ThinkHumanTV educational content and a discussion leader embedded in the viewing, while a comparison group will watch in a group without the ThinkHumanTV elements. The study compares changes in resilience, emotional awareness, and overall well-being between the two groups. Eligibility focuses on English-speaking adults treated at the center for at least six months, excluding those who are actively manic, actively suicidal, recently substance-dependent, or judged unsafe or inappropriate by clinicians.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults aged 18 or older who have been receiving treatment at the Whole Health Center for at least six months and speak English are the intended participants.
Not a fit: Patients who are actively manic, actively suicidal, have recent substance dependence, or are judged by their clinician to be unsafe or inappropriate are unlikely to benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could offer an accessible, group-based way for community mental health patients to build emotional awareness and resilience.
How similar studies have performed: Some group-based media and psychoeducational programs have shown modest benefits for emotional awareness and coping, but the specific ThinkHumanTV-augmented viewing approach is relatively novel.
