What this trial studies

This study evaluates the effectiveness of laser acupuncture as a treatment for monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis in adolescent females aged 10 to 18 years who have not responded to standard medical treatment. Nocturnal enuresis, or bedwetting, can lead to significant emotional and social challenges for affected individuals. The study aims to provide a non-pharmacological approach to managing this condition, utilizing infrared laser therapy to potentially improve bladder control. Participants will be monitored for changes in their symptoms and overall quality of life.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adolescent females aged 10 to 18 years with monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis who have not benefited from desmopressin acetate treatment.

Not a fit: Patients with psychological or neurological disorders, chronic diseases, or urinary tract infections will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could provide a non-invasive option for adolescent girls suffering from bedwetting, improving their quality of life and self-esteem.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have indicated potential benefits of low-level laser acupuncture for similar conditions, suggesting this approach may be promising.
