Using kinematic theory to help diagnose Parkinson's disease
Contribution of the Kinematic Theory in the Early Differential Diagnosis of the Parkinson's Disease
This study is testing new ways to use movement analysis to help tell the difference between people with Parkinson's disease, related conditions, and healthy individuals.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to differentiate between patients with Parkinson's disease, related syndromes, and healthy individuals using advanced kinematic analysis. It will employ various non-invasive techniques, including oculovisual measurements, to assess motor performance and identify potential biomarkers for clinical diagnosis. The study will compare the reliability of different parametric approaches in distinguishing these groups, focusing on the early stages of Parkinsonism. While it has strengths in its innovative methodology, it acknowledges limitations due to the absence of multimodal confirmation methods.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals aged 50-75 diagnosed with Parkinsonism for 6 years or less, as well as healthy volunteers without neurological history.
Not a fit: Patients with major neurocognitive disorders or other significant neurological conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance early diagnosis and differentiation of Parkinson's disease, leading to better-targeted treatments.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies have shown promise in using non-invasive techniques for diagnosing Parkinson's disease.
