What this trial studies
This study evaluates the feasibility of a hypnosis program for children and teenagers aged 8 to 17 with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis (AD). The approach involves using hypnoanalgesia to provide comfort and reduce skin pain, as well as addressing stress management and self-esteem through hypnosis. Participants will be referred by their physicians and must understand French to engage in the program. The study aims to gather preliminary data on the effectiveness of hypnosis as a therapeutic alternative for managing AD symptoms.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 8 to 17 with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis who can understand French.
Not a fit: Patients who refuse hypnosis, have psychiatric disorders, or are currently on systemic treatments for atopic dermatitis may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a non-invasive alternative treatment for children suffering from atopic dermatitis, improving their quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results for hypnosis in managing atopic dermatitis, but this approach is still considered novel due to the lack of control groups and larger populations.
