What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of hypnosis, virtual reality, or a combination of both in reducing anxiety and discomfort for patients undergoing bone marrow procedures. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: those receiving a hypnotic audio script, those experiencing virtual reality, or a control group with no intervention. Vital signs and questionnaires will be used to assess the impact of these interventions before and after the procedure. The goal is to determine if these techniques can improve the patient experience during a typically stressful medical procedure.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 or older who are scheduled for a bone marrow examination and can communicate in Hebrew, Arabic, or Russian.
Not a fit: Patients with major hearing or visual impairments may not benefit from this study due to the nature of the interventions.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce anxiety and improve the overall experience for patients undergoing bone marrow examinations.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of hypnosis and virtual reality in medical procedures is gaining interest, this specific combination for bone marrow examinations is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
