What this trial studies

This pilot study aims to test the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of healthcare provider referrals to a tax filing app within parental-child health programs. Approximately 100 women with children under 6 years old will be recruited from maternal-child health clinics in Los Angeles. Participants will complete surveys at baseline, after tax filing season, and six months later to assess tax filing frequency, app acceptability, and changes in parent and child health outcomes. The study employs a single-group, pre/post-test design to evaluate these outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are low-income parents earning less than $75,000 annually with at least one child under the age of 6.

Not a fit: Patients experiencing an acute mental health crisis may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly increase tax credit receipt among low-income families, improving their financial stability and overall well-being.

How similar studies have performed: While similar approaches have been explored, this specific intervention using healthcare providers as messengers for tax credit access is relatively novel.
