Using Gallium-68-DOTATOC PET/CT to Analyze Heart Inflammation in Cancer Patients
GATED-PET Heart Analysis in Patients Having a Gallium-68--DOTATOC PET/CT Exam for Oncology Indication
This study is testing if a special imaging technique can help doctors see heart inflammation in cancer patients who are being checked for neuroendocrine tumors.

What this trial studies
This study investigates the use of Gallium-68-DOTATOC PET/CT imaging to assess cardiac inflammation in patients undergoing evaluation for neuroendocrine tumors. Participants will receive a Gallium-68-DOTATOC infusion followed by a PET/CT scan in GATED mode, which allows for detailed cardiac imaging. Blood samples will also be collected to measure biomarkers related to heart health. The goal is to correlate imaging findings with patient age and cardiovascular risk factors.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who are scheduled for a Gallium-68-DOTATOC PET/CT exam for neuroendocrine tumor assessment.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of heart disease, severe arrhythmias, or those who cannot undergo a PET-CT scan will likely not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance the understanding and management of cardiac inflammation in cancer patients, potentially leading to improved patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of PET imaging in oncology is well-established, the specific application of GATED mode for cardiac inflammation in this context is novel and has not been extensively tested.
