What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of fresh frozen plasma (FFP) transfusion as a treatment for patients suffering from moderate to severe organophosphate poisoning. Conducted at Ain Shams University Hospital in Egypt, the study will randomly assign participants to receive either traditional treatment protocols or FFP. The severity of poisoning will be assessed using the Peradeniya Organophosphorus Poisoning scale, and the outcomes will be compared to determine the potential benefits of FFP in improving patient prognosis.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 to 60 who have been diagnosed with moderate to severe organophosphate poisoning.

Not a fit: Patients with pre-existing health conditions such as diabetes, cardiac, respiratory, renal, or hepatic diseases, as well as pregnant women, will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could provide a novel and effective option for improving outcomes in patients with organophosphate poisoning.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of fresh frozen plasma in this context is novel, other studies have explored alternative treatments for organophosphate poisoning with varying degrees of success.
