What this trial studies
This interventional trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of financial incentives and messaging strategies in increasing enrollment of diverse individuals into the Alzheimer Prevention Trials (APT) Webstudy. The APT Webstudy is an innovative online registry that conducts quarterly cognitive assessments remotely. The study will be conducted in collaboration with Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, targeting patients aged 50 and older who receive primary care at the facility. The goal is to determine if these approaches can enhance participation in Alzheimer's research among underrepresented populations.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 50 or older who are patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and are literate in English or Spanish.
Not a fit: Patients under the age of 50 or those with a prior diagnosis of dementia may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved recruitment strategies for Alzheimer's prevention research, ultimately benefiting patients through increased participation in clinical trials.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of financial incentives in recruitment is a common strategy, this specific approach targeting diverse populations in Alzheimer's prevention is relatively novel.
