What this trial studies

This study aims to address the fear of childbirth in first-time pregnant women by utilizing Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and virtual reality (VR) applications. The approach combines relaxation techniques with immersive simulations to help reduce anxiety and improve mental well-being during pregnancy. Participants will be divided into groups receiving either the intervention or no treatment, allowing for a comparison of outcomes related to maternal attachment and emotional health. The study focuses on women in their late pregnancy stages, specifically between 32 and 38 weeks gestation.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are first-time pregnant women between 32 and 38 weeks of gestation who do not have psychiatric disorders or obstetric complications.

Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit from this study include those with verbal communication issues, psychiatric disorders, or those experiencing early labor.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce anxiety and improve the emotional well-being of expectant mothers, fostering better maternal-infant relationships.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results using similar nonpharmacological approaches to reduce anxiety in pregnant women, indicating potential for success in this novel application.
