What this trial studies

This pilot interventional study evaluates the effectiveness of Dynamic Airway Computed Tomography (DA-CT) in diagnosing tracheomalacia in children aged 0-18 who have undergone flexible bronchoscopy. The study aims to assess the diagnostic accuracy, image quality, and radiation exposure of DA-CT as a noninvasive alternative to the traditional method of flexible bronchoscopy. The findings will inform the design of a larger study to better estimate the diagnostic potential of DA-CT for this condition.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 0-18 who have had a clinically indicated flexible bronchoscopy.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, unable to undergo CT scanning without sedation, or have a tracheostomy will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a safer, noninvasive diagnostic option for children with tracheomalacia.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, it is not yet widely tested, making it a novel investigation in the field.
