Using DCE-MRI to diagnose Brucellar Spondylitis
Application of Dynamic Contrast Enhanced MRI in Clinical and Early Diagnosis of Brucellar Spondylitis

What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) in diagnosing brucellar spondylitis, a complication of brucellosis. Approximately 100 patients with brucellosis will undergo both conventional MRI and DCE-MRI scans to measure various parameters such as endothelial transfer constant and reflux rate. The study will analyze the sensitivity and specificity of these parameters in distinguishing between vertebral lesions and normal tissues. The goal is to enhance early diagnosis, which is crucial for improving patient outcomes and preventing severe complications.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals with a history of brucellosis and symptoms such as low fever, night sweats, and lower back pain.
Not a fit: Patients with other conditions like tuberculous spondylitis or vertebral metastases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to earlier and more accurate diagnoses of brucellar spondylitis, improving patient management and outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While the application of DCE-MRI in this specific context is novel, similar imaging techniques have shown promise in diagnosing other conditions.
