What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a Community Health Worker (CHW) intervention combined with a mobile telehealth (M-Health) component in achieving long-term viral suppression in Black individuals with poorly controlled HIV. Participants will receive support and counseling from CHWs to enhance their treatment adherence. The study focuses on individuals aged 18 and older who are receiving care at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Health System and self-identify as Black. The intervention seeks to address barriers to care and improve health outcomes in this population.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Black adults aged 18 and older with poorly controlled HIV who are receiving care at the University of Miami.

Not a fit: Patients with other conditions that limit their ability to participate meaningfully in the study may not benefit from this intervention.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve HIV treatment adherence and health outcomes for Black individuals with uncontrolled HIV.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results using community health workers and telehealth interventions to improve health outcomes in similar populations.
