What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the efficacy and safety of moxibustion therapy combined with Chinese herbal medicine for patients experiencing chemotherapy-induced leukopenia. The study aims to improve white blood cell counts and enhance the quality of life for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Participants will receive treatment at specific acupoints using traditional Chinese medicine, with the goal of reducing the adverse effects of chemotherapy. The trial will include patients diagnosed with cancer who have low white blood cell counts after starting chemotherapy.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are cancer patients aged 20 or older who have experienced a first instance of low white blood cell counts after chemotherapy.
Not a fit: Patients with leukemia or those currently receiving other forms of traditional Chinese medicine treatment may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could provide a cost-effective alternative to conventional therapies for managing chemotherapy-induced leukopenia.
How similar studies have performed: While there is some literature supporting the use of traditional Chinese medicine for similar conditions, this specific approach using moxibustion therapy is relatively novel.
