What this trial studies

This study investigates the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on sleep quality in athletes suffering from sleep disorders. It employs a double-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled design to ensure the reliability of results. Athletes aged 12 and older with sleep impairments will be recruited and monitored throughout the intervention. The study aims to assess whether tDCS can enhance sleep quality and, consequently, athletic performance.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are athletes aged 12 and older who report sleep impairments as indicated by a Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index score greater than 5.

Not a fit: Patients currently using sleep medications, those with a history of multiple concussions, or individuals with certain medical conditions such as epilepsy or pregnancy may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve sleep quality in athletes, leading to better performance and reduced injury risk.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that tDCS can improve sleep quality in various populations, including older adults and athletes, indicating potential for success in this approach.
