What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of Ashwagandha supplementation on muscle recovery following exercise. Participants aged 18-35 will be randomized to receive either Ashwagandha (600 mg/day) or a placebo for 10 days. After a muscle-damaging exercise session, various assessments will be conducted to measure muscle strength recovery, swelling, and soreness at multiple time points. The goal is to determine if Ashwagandha can alleviate symptoms of muscle damage and enhance recovery.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy males and females aged 18-35 who engage in regular exercise.
Not a fit: Patients with conditions that may be affected by exercise or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this could provide a natural supplement option for improving muscle recovery after exercise.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically on Ashwagandha for muscle recovery, other studies have shown positive effects of Ashwagandha on physical performance and stress reduction, suggesting potential benefits.
