Using artificial intelligence to detect dental periapical lesions on panoramic radiographs

Detection of Periapical Lesions on Dental Panoramic Images Based on Artificial Intelligence Using Cone Beam Computed Tomography

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to enhance the early diagnosis of periapical lesions using artificial intelligence applied to dental panoramic radiographs. By comparing the detection rates of these lesions through various imaging techniques, including conventional radiography and advanced three-dimensional imaging, the study seeks to identify the most effective methods for early detection. The ultimate goal is to improve patient care by facilitating quicker diagnosis and treatment of these lesions, which can lead to serious health complications if left untreated.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients who have undergone both CBCT and panoramic dental imaging within the last three months.

Not a fit: Patients who refuse to participate in the study will not benefit from the findings.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to earlier and more accurate diagnoses of periapical diseases, improving patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of artificial intelligence in medical imaging is gaining traction, this specific application for periapical lesions is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
