What this trial studies
This study aims to enhance nursing students' understanding of patient safety and their ability to collaborate effectively through an innovative escape room experience. The research will involve first-year nursing students at Karadeniz Technical University, who will participate in a pre-test and post-test design to measure changes in knowledge and teamwork skills. The escape room format is designed to engage students in active problem-solving and experiential learning, leveraging gamification to motivate and improve educational outcomes. Data will be collected using various assessment tools to evaluate knowledge levels and collaboration skills before and after the intervention.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are first-year nursing students enrolled in a theoretical course on Patient Safety.
Not a fit: Students who have previously taken the Nursing Fundamentals course or those not attending the Patient Safety lecture may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve nursing students' preparedness in patient safety, leading to better patient care outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While gamification and escape room methodologies have been explored internationally, this specific application in Turkey is novel and untested.
