What this trial studies

This observational study aims to develop and validate a CT-based artificial intelligence model to predict thyroid cartilage invasion in patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. By analyzing preoperative CT scans, the model seeks to enhance diagnostic accuracy and inform treatment decisions, which are critical for patient outcomes. The study also explores the potential of these models to predict survival outcomes for patients, thereby providing valuable insights for clinicians in managing laryngeal cancer.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients diagnosed with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma who have undergone a CT examination within two weeks prior to surgery.

Not a fit: Patients who have received preoperative chemotherapy or radiation therapy, or those with tumor recurrence, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more accurate treatment decisions and improved survival rates for patients with laryngeal carcinoma.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing AI and radiomics for cancer prediction have shown promising results, indicating potential success for this approach.
