What this trial studies

This study evaluates the effectiveness of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing the detection of colonic polyps during elective colonoscopy. Patients aged over 50 will be randomly assigned to receive either conventional endoscopy or AI-assisted endoscopy, where the AI system will identify and classify polyps during the procedure. The study aims to determine if AI can improve detection rates and differentiate between benign and malignant polyps. Data will be collected on patient demographics, examination findings, and the performance of the AI systems compared to traditional methods.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients over the age of 50 who are scheduled for elective colonoscopy.

Not a fit: Patients under 50 years of age or those requiring emergency examinations may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved detection of polyps, potentially reducing the risk of colorectal cancer in patients.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with AI-assisted detection methods in similar contexts, indicating potential for success.
