What this trial studies
This trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of artificial intelligence-guided echocardiography for the management of heart failure and valvular heart disease in rural and remote Australia. Given the geographic disparities in access to echocardiography, the study will utilize AI to optimize image acquisition and facilitate remote interpretation. Participants aged 40 and older with cardiovascular risk factors will be recruited through community outreach at multiple sites. The goal is to enhance early detection and management of heart conditions, potentially reducing hospital admissions and improving patient quality of life.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 40 years and older with at least one cardiovascular risk factor living in rural and remote Australia.
Not a fit: Patients with known heart failure or heart valve disease, or those with life expectancy less than two years due to comorbid conditions, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve access to essential heart disease diagnostics and management for patients in rural areas.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using AI for medical imaging, suggesting potential success for this novel approach in echocardiography.
