What this trial studies

This observational study aims to identify digital biomarkers associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) by integrating sensor data from a wrist-worn wearable device with clinical data. Patients with and without diabetes will be recruited from cardio-metabolic clinics at the McGill University Health Centre. Participants will wear a HOP Technologies watch during two observation periods, allowing for the collection of both passive sensor data and active self-assessments. Machine learning techniques will be employed to analyze the data and establish associations with clinical measures of T2DM.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes or have an HbA1c level of 6.5% or higher.

Not a fit: Patients who do not have type 2 diabetes or an HbA1c level below 6.5% may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved identification and management of type 2 diabetes through the use of digital biomarkers.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing wearable technology and AI for diabetes management have shown promising results, indicating potential for success in this approach.
