Using AI to analyze ultrasound images for cardiovascular diseases
AI-Based Intima-Media Thickness Measurement for Cardiovascular Risk Assessment
This study is testing if using AI to analyze ultrasound images can help find heart problems and strokes earlier, especially for older people who might not get enough medical attention.

What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on developing a deep learning model to analyze ultrasound images for the early detection of cardiovascular diseases and strokes. Given the increasing prevalence of these conditions in Hong Kong, the study aims to enhance preventive healthcare by utilizing the PyrocksTM Tag Lite device. The approach seeks to address the challenges posed by operator-dependent imaging and the shortage of medical staff, particularly for high-risk groups such as the elderly. By integrating advanced AI technology, the study hopes to improve the accuracy and accessibility of cardiovascular screenings.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18, particularly those over 65, with existing cardiovascular diseases or risk factors.
Not a fit: Patients without cardiovascular diseases or those under 18 years old may not receive benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more accurate and accessible screenings for cardiovascular diseases, ultimately reducing mortality rates.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of AI in medical imaging is gaining traction, this specific approach is novel and has not been extensively tested in similar contexts.
